programmed by Gary McLaughlin

Camerata Nordica is a Swedish chamber orchestra known for its flexible size, collaborative spirit, and distinctive, intimate sound. Performing without a conductor, the ensemble emphasizes communication and musical dialogue among its players.

Founded in 1974 and based in the Kalmar region of Sweden, Camerata Nordica has built an international reputation for its dynamic and innovative approach to chamber orchestra performance. The group typically performs without a conductor, instead led from within—often by a concertmaster or guest director—allowing for a highly responsive and cohesive musical experience. Its repertoire spans from Baroque and Classical works to contemporary compositions, with a particular commitment to new music and Nordic composers. Camerata Nordica regularly collaborates with renowned soloists and artists, tours widely across Europe and beyond, and is celebrated for its warm, transparent sound and adventurous programming.

Camerata Nordica appears by arrangement with Lisa Sapinkopf Artists.
