Fr. Brendan Williams - Poems/Prayers
December 18, 2026
Programmed by Denise Low
Father Brendan Williams, chaplain of Bishop’s Ranch outside Healdsburg, in conversation with Denise Low. The intersections of prayer and poetry are shared inspirations from religious texts for both of these poets. They will talk about biblical and other religious texts as subliminal cultural guides as well as deliberate choices they make in their respective practices.
Psalms and hymns have long influenced sonnets and today’s short lyrical poems. Ginsberg’s Kaddish is an audacious example of intertextual borrowing from Jewish tradition.
Williams is a priest, spiritual director, yogī, healer, scholar, and teacher of religion. His work spans Western and Eastern esoterica, indigenous Gaelic lifeways, meditation, and contemplative spirituality. He chants old rebel tales, traces the song-streams of ancient wisdom, and ferries souls along the mythic riverways of human transformation—guiding people from all walks of life back to their birthright of wholeness and freedom within the great ecology of spirit.
